What to bring to a brow consultation + photo Brief

Bring healed reference photos, a shortlist of shapes, and your questions. If you made a LikeU preview, also bring the PNG and the Brow Brief. The Brief is homework so the conversation starts from your face. It is not a procedure plan, not a pigment recipe, and not medical advice.

What the Brow Brief is

The Brief is a short sheet that travels with your preview PNG. It describes the shape and technique you picked, a placement map, and proportions relative to your photo. Your technician re-measures and pre-draws on your face. The sheet does not tell them how to do the procedure.

Proportions are ratios, not millimetres. A photo has no scale bar, so the Brief does not invent millimetre measurements. It also does not suggest a pigment brand or number. The colour line asks your artist to judge colour in person.

Sections you can expect

  1. A header that says the sheet is a preview and that healed results vary.
  2. Your chosen brow: the shape, Hair-stroke or Powder, and whether you were looking at the bold, medium, or soft PNG.
  3. A placement map on your original photo. Head, arch, and tail are marked, and the left and right sides are fitted separately.
  4. Proportions written as ratios: where the arch sits along the brow, how the tail compares with the head, and brow length compared with eye width. No millimetres.
  5. Left and right differences, when they are large enough to mention. Faces are not symmetrical.
  6. The shape in plain words: how full the head, body, and tail are, and whether the arch is flat, rounded, or angled.
  7. A colour note with no pigment brand or number. It asks your artist to judge colour in person.
  8. The technique you picked, plus a reminder that skin suitability is for the artist to judge.
  9. A second-choice line. A standard preview records the one shape you picked, so this line stays empty unless a second shape was saved.
  10. Questions worth asking at the consult.
  11. A disclaimer and a short privacy note. The sheet is not medical advice and not a guarantee.

A consultation checklist

  • The preview PNG and the Brow Brief, on your phone or printed.
  • Two or three photos of healed brows you like, with a note about the shape. Fresh Instagram photos are a weak reference.
  • Your first shape and one backup, named from the ten: Natural, Soft Arch, Soft Angled, Rounded, Lifted Arch, Sharp Arch, High Arch, Straight, Soft Straight, Low Arch.
  • Hair-stroke or Powder as a preference, with room for the artist to disagree.
  • Questions: healed photos on skin like yours, whether they pre-draw and let you adjust, the touch-up policy, how they choose colour, and which technique they suggest for your skin.
  • Anything the studio already asked for, such as an ID or a deposit. Studios differ. This list does not replace theirs.

Leave the appointment able to say no. A preview is a head start, not a reason to start a procedure the same day.

Common questions

What should I bring to a microblading consultation?

Healed reference photos, a shape shortlist, your questions, and, if you have them, a preview PNG and Brow Brief. Add whatever that studio asked you to bring.

What is a Brow Brief for the artist?

It is a one-page homework sheet: your chosen shape and technique, a placement map, relative proportions, and questions. It is not a procedure plan and it does not name a pigment.

Does the Brief include millimetre measurements or pigment codes?

No. Proportions are relative to your photo, because a photo has no scale bar. Pigment brand and number are your artist’s decision. We do not recommend either.

Not medical advice. The preview and the Brow Brief are homework for a consultation, not a procedure plan and not a picture of healed brows.
