Hair-stroke vs powder brows
Hair-stroke brows are fine strokes that imitate hairs. Powder brows are a soft shaded fill, lighter at the head and denser through the body. Brow Preview’s technique toggle is exactly those two. The toggle shows a look on your photo. Your artist still decides which technique suits your skin.
The two techniques on the toggle
| Comparison | Hair-stroke | Powder |
|---|---|---|
| What it looks like | Fine separate strokes, closer to the look of brow hairs. | A soft shaded fill. Lighter at the head, denser through the body. |
| Often compared with | Microblading and other hair-like strokes. | Ombre or powder brows, a shaded finish rather than drawn hairs. |
| What the preview can show | That stroke texture on the shape you picked. | That shaded fill on the same shape. |
| What it cannot decide | Whether strokes will hold in your skin. | Whether a shaded fill suits oily or textured skin. |
How to compare them
- Pick the shape first. Technique is easier to judge when the outline is one you already like.
- Generate Hair-stroke, then Powder, or the other way around. Each successful run is one combination.
- Look at the front of the brow. Powder is meant to be lighter there. Hair-stroke should still read as separate strokes, not a solid bar.
- Ask your artist which technique they recommend for your skin, and why. A preview is not that judgment.
What a preview costs
A successful preview costs 50 credits. A photo we can't use costs 5. A failure on our side costs 0. You need at least 40 credits to start. With 40–49, we cover the difference as a trial loan; buying a pack later cancels the loan and you keep the whole pack.
Verify your email and your new account gets 50 free credits, once — enough for one brow preview. Some sign-ups need an extra account check before the credits arrive.
You get a PNG in bold, medium, and soft, plus a Brow Brief. Those shades are intensities of the preview, not a picture of healed brows. Opening them again does not cost more credits.
Common questions
What is the difference between hair-stroke and powder brows?
Hair-stroke imitates hairs with fine strokes. Powder is a soft shaded fill, lighter at the head and denser through the body. You can preview either on the same shape.
Are powder brows the same as microblading?
No. Microblading is usually discussed with hair-like strokes. Powder, ombre powder, and a shaded fill are a different technique. Both can be a longer-lasting shape, and both are on the preview toggle. Lamination and tint are not.
How many credits do I need to compare both?
Each successful preview costs 50 credits, so both techniques are two successes. A new account’s signup gift is 50 credits, enough for one successful preview. A photo we can’t use costs 5. A failure on our side costs 0.
Not medical advice. The preview and the Brow Brief are homework for a consultation, not a procedure plan and not a picture of healed brows.
